Roofs are meant to last a long time, so it’s not uncommon to have never experienced a roof installation before. Because of this, you may not know what to expect when your roof is being replaced. Roof installation is a lot of work that can lead to a lot of dirt and debris, so it’s important to make sure you adequately prepare yourself and your property before your roofers arrive. Here are a few of the top preparation tips for your new roofing installation.
- Move your outdoor furniture indoors. Any obstacles in your roofers’ way will make the installation take longer, as they’ll have to make sure there’s nothing in your yard or driveway that could hinder their safety or ability to work. Move any outdoor furniture you have indoors, both to help keep it out of the roofers’ way and to make sure it doesn’t accidentally get damaged by falling materials or debris.
- Turn sprinklers off. Depending on what time of year your roof installation is taking place, your sprinklers may already be turned off for the season. If they’re on, you’ll need to turn them off. Wet grass poses a safety risk for the roofers, so in order to minimize this risk, keep your grass as dry as possible by turning off your sprinklers.
- Tell your neighbors. Roof installations are loud, and your neighbors may not want to hear yours. It’s courteous to tell your neighbors that you’ll be having your roof replaced so that they can make plans to be out for the day if they prefer.
